CAIR Congratulates Bush in Ramadan While His Troops Smash Down Iraqis
"We recognize the heavy burden placed on those in a leadership role. We also appreciate the fact that, to be effective, any person in a position of authority needs the involvement and support of those he or she leads. The American public turned out in record numbers and we have faith in the democratic process that has been a hallmark of our society for more than two centuries." -CAIR's congratulations letter to George W. Bush "It is time that we acknowledge that the freedoms we enjoy in the US are more desirable to us than superficial solidarity with the Muslim World." -Dr. M. A. Muqtedar Khan How far and how low will a flunky go to show his master that he is absolutely loyal? So far, it seems, the answer is, "just about anywhere." The US military is making an example of the stubborn Iraqi city of Fallujah. In the three weeks preceding, American warplanes rained their own weapons of mass destruction to "soften up" a place where 300,000 once lived. Medical and food aid for the civilians trapped there has been blocked, and the local hospital was one of the first places occupied to control all news about "collateral damage." The marines help themselves to abandoned (and not so abandoned) homes, which is the same kind of bad behavior that started the trouble in the first place. But all the bad guys Washington wanted to catch left town long ago and set up shop elsewhere! Meanwhile, back in the States, we Muslims in the US enjoy Ramadan in comfort. Our would-be leadership doesn't express any disgust, let alone mild dismay, about the oppression now taking place. They don't even opt for the "least of iman" by staying silent and hating the munkar quietly in their hearts. Instead, there is the bootlicking prevalent amongst minorities who want to flatter the powerful. What price will Muslims pay to "get along;" where will we draw the line? Are we that willing to turn away from the burning pain that our brothers overseas must feel? The Prophet (SAWS)
said in a famous hadith recorded in al-Bukhari, "The believers,
in their love, mutual kindness, and close ties, are like one body; when
any part complains, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and
fever." This is really all about outsiders trying to gain acceptance from the insiders. The problem with this approach is that it never works for any group whose existence is based upon a distinct ideological-as opposed to ethnic-culture, be it Muslims or anybody else. When Muslims put aside their ideology and ambition to establish a complete alternative system, they become a typical weak interest group, pushing and shoving with many other interest groups to gain admittance to the melting pot. Are we Muslims prepared to set aside the justice of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) just so we can gain acceptance from the wrongly-named "democratic free world"? This justice can only be established if we carry Islam as an Ideology and work to establish it within a political platform called a state. We were commanded by Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) to work to establish His system on earth. He says, "And we have sent this book in Truth, so that you will rule by it." We were not commanded to support or seek the friendship of the oppressors of our Ummah; furthermore, we do not need them to like us. One day, this writer hopes, Ramadan in America will be a time to create intellectual awareness about our crises in this dire time. Instead of just trying to wash our hands of the mess by raising money for the latest crop of refugees, we should be discussing real solutions and work to apply them. We have been giving money far too long to ease our consciences, and our troubles throughout the world only increase. For their part, the large national organizations for Muslims only respond with more and more brown-nosing; it is long past time, for them at least, to stop. We must remind ourselves again and again, what Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) says, "Neither the Christians nor the Jews will ever accept you, until you adopt their way of life." For many years now, the big groups for Muslims have tried to prove Allah wrong by working hard for such acceptance. We as Muslims have a complete and better way of life to offer everyone. Muslims must educate themselves and the Non-Muslims about the Islamic ideology. CAIR's statement, "And we have faith in the democratic process that has been a hallmark of our society for more than two centuries," in fact endorses the very kufr responsible for all this oppression. Islam, once implemented correctly, is the solution to people's problems and Allah (SBT) will continue to punish us-and we in America will lose our children anyway-so long as we neglect our responsibility: "You are the best nation among mankind, since you enjoin the good, forbid the evil, and you believe in Allah."
